ハワイアンで SunnySmiles (‘Olu ‘Olu Mele　誕生！)

 Here we are on the day 1 of our new “band” 　Cafe and Restaurant, &You  in Kajigaya, Kawasaki city.
新しいハワイアンバンド”オルオル・メレ”のDay１の”演奏”です。遊びで弾いてます！

With hula dancer LECO Yamaguchi bringing us together, our new Hawaiian band ‘Olu ‘Olu Mele (music breeze) played (for fun) for the first time on this day. Mr. Miyazaki (Hoyochi),  Mr. Shinozaki(Akki-) (in the “80’s” club!) ,  Miho and LECO and Mitz (in the “50’s” club!) make up this group.
フラ講師の山口レコ先生のおかげでフラに魅了されたSunny Smilesがホヨチ（宮崎さん）とアッキー（篠崎さん）とレコ先生と一緒にハワイアンをやってみよう！’Olu ‘Olu Mele （オルオル・メレー風でやってくる音楽）を作ってみました。

We strive for creating music that “soars gently through the air like a cool, refreshing breeze.”
名のとおり、気持ちよく風に乗ってやってくる音楽のサウンドを目指して、これからも頑張っていきたいです！

Since then, we have played together on stage twice!
’Olu ’Olu Mele の誕生より２回もステージに立ちました。

We are now getting ready for our third stage in our hometown of Chigasaki the newly renovated Aeon Style, Shonana Chigasaki (Soyora) on the 2nd floor (street level) Atrium at 13:00 and 14:00. Both Stages will feature hula dancers (Hau`oli Maile Hula) for songs like “In Your Hawaiian Way, Koali, Pua Carnation, Lei Ho’oheno, … twelve songs in total, divided into 2 programs (13:00 and 14:00) Come and join us for some beautiful hula and a terrific heartfelt performances of our new band, ‘Olu ‘Olu Mele!

ただいま３度目のステージの準備中です。地元茅ヶ崎のニューフェイスで新しくオープンしましたイオンスタイル湘南茅ヶ崎（そよら湘南茅ヶ崎）の２階アトリウムにて２ステージで演奏することになりました。イン・ヨーア・ハワイアン・ウェイ、コアリ、プア・カーネーション、レイ・ホーヘノ、などなど！をフラ(Hau’oli Maile Hulaの皆様）と’Olu ‘Olu Mele の生演奏で！全１２曲を２部 (１３：００と１４：００）にわたって美しいフラと新バンドで心を込めてお贈りしたいと思ってます。（無料）よろしくお願いします！

Hello there! Here I am showing off Artist Mikkiou’s world as we sing and dance together! This is basically the mood with which we welcomed our first musical collaboration together! A fun time with a lot of ooopsies, but enjoyable, nevertheless! It’s not too late to submerge yourself in to Mikkiou’s zany world! 

こんにちは！歌って、踊りながらミッキオウさんの世界を案内してます。こんな感じで初めての音楽コラボのイベントを迎えました！ヘマをしながらだったけど、大雨の中、ギャラリー木の実まで足を運んでくれた方と一緒に演奏を楽しみました！展覧会は21日の月曜日までです。このクレージー（NUTSナッツ)なワールドを一緒に味わってください！

ただいま、サニースマイルズは次のライブの準備中です。アーティストミッキオウ（藤谷美貴雄）と彼の仲間達が主催する アートの展覧会、”NUTS 2022″の期間中、ちょっとした音楽パーティーをすることになりました。喜んで引き受けました！一つのリクエストがあり：愛の讃歌を歌わせて下さい！問題ない！

SunnySmiles is now preparing for their next LIVE performance, a collaboration with artist Mikkio (Fujitani, Mikkio) taking place on March 18, 2022. It all started with a friend requesting that we play at their art exhibit. Their only request was that we also play the song, L’hyme a l’amour (in Japanese…. Ai No Sanka). Of course, we could play that!!!　I rushed to look up the song …　Oh…. THAT song!!!
Waaaay out of our league!!! Uh, oh….

聴いてみたら、まぁ！なんてぱ熱情的なシャンソン！サニースマイルズにとって、初めてのジャンル！

My! What a PASSIONATE chanson! It was definitely a new new world of music for us! 

お一応、マルチ・リンガルの音楽デゥオと”歌っている”二人ですから、これを機会にフランス語で歌ってみよう！と（初級フランス語の生徒の）ミッツが飛び上がり、毎日聴いて・まねして・料理中も散歩中も近くのスーパーで買い物中でも歌って、、、１ヶ月後なんとか歌えるようになりました。(フランス人の友達の「OK！」ももらって、めちゃハッピーです！😂  ）

フランス語と日本語のバージョンはかなり違いますが、どっちも愛の深さを語る。ミホと二人でコラボで歌えるようにアレーンジしてみました！ミッキオウさんの深いベースで歌う日本語の声　と　ミッツのフランス語　と　サニースマイルズ のいつものハーモニーをいい感じで歌を味わえると思います！楽しみにしてね！

Being a multi-lingual singing duo, I jumped at the chance to learn the song in FRENCH! (I am a beginner French student!) It was not easy, but after 1 month of obsessing over it everyday… while cooking, on walks, while shopping at my local supermarket, I was finally able to sing it! (I’m happy to note that it was even “okay’d” by my French musician friend!) The song in Japanese and the song in French have such different meanings! However, they both sing passionately about deep love, so Miho and I decided to combine the two versions into one song for our performance with Mikkio. I think you will like what we did with Mikkio’s deep bass voice along with my (French-native approved! 😂  ) French and our usual SunnySmiles harmonious take on this new arrangement! I hope so, anyway!

“Drop-in” Performance at Kinomi

We had so much fun with our little LIVE event at Gallery KINOMI in Chigasaki!

Thank you artist, Ritz Yamashina for inviting us to his art exhibition to play!
In late September in 2021, we are still in the middle of a pandemic….the cases of corona (in Tokyo, Kanagawa) are finally STARTING to go down (with more and more people getting vaccinated… I’m assuming!) but the number is still high enough that we decided not to “advertise” or invite our friends. We decided to play IF there were people hanging out at the end of the day.

After the clock struck 5 (when the cafe was scheduled to close) we quickly set up our chairs for a quick performance!
Here is a video of our newest arrangements of the Hawaiian favorite, “Wahine ‘Ilikea” and the jazz classic “All of Me”.

楽しかった。ありがとう！茅ヶ崎市の里山公園の近所の”ギャラリー木の実”でミニライブをさせていただきました。アーティストの山科RITZさんの画展をお邪魔させていただきました。
新コロナの影響でまだ油断できないので今回は宣伝せずカフェにたまたまいらした方の前で弾く事にしました。5時のベル（カフェの閉店時間）で椅子を並べてちょちょっと2曲演奏しました！

Ritz Yamashina is a Chigasaki-based Artist whose passion it is to travel around the world and capture inspirational images with with his paintbrush. His exhibition will be on display until Monday, September 27, 2021! It is a great place to take a walk in nature in the hills of Chigasaki near Satoyama Park.

“Play”ing in the Forest　森の中で「遊ぶ」（演奏）

 

Yesterday we were able to play our music with a handful of loving friends.

昨日、森の中で大事なお友達と一緒にミュージックで遊んだ。

As expected, the experience of playing in the cafe surrounded by the magical paintings of the old growth forests of Yakushima was special.

想像できた通り、原生林の屋久島の森をテーマにしたギャラリーの中の演奏はとても神秘的で不思議なエネルギーを感じました。

A nice breeze flowed through the room, the birds singing faintly outside, and our lovely audience rapt in attention. I saw some people nodding to the music, a few listened with their eyes slightly closed, some did not seem to look away even for a second. How thrilling and exciting it was.

涼しげな風が立ち寄ってくれて、鳥の鳴き声も微かに聞こえてくる”森の部屋”の中で、楽しく練習してきた数々の曲を皆さんの前で楽しく演奏できました。うなずく方もいれば、目を瞑って聞いてくれたり、一秒も前から目を離さなかった方もいました。ミッツがとてもびっくりで、驚きながらも引き続けた。

We are also so grateful for the beautiful conversations we were able to have after the performance… about how they were able to relax and enjoy themselves

終わった後の友達との会話も面白く、喜んでくださったようで、何よりです！

How should we start off, but with an announcement of a LIVE performance at Gallery KINOMI in Chigasaki, Japan!

とても嬉しいお知らせ！
茅ヶ崎（芹沢）の里山公園の北部にある、「カフェギャラリー木」の実で２回目のライブをさせていただきます　　　　　　　　　　リッツさん、ありがとう！

茅ヶ崎在住、画家の山科律さんの画展（4月22日〜5月4日）の素晴らしい会場を借りて演奏することになりました！

We are honored to have been invited to perform at the art exhibition of local artist of 20 years (and retired Chigasaki firefighter!), Ritz Yamashina for his 73rd scenic paintings series of beautiful Yakushima in Southern Japan.

まるで屋久島の森の中に瞬間移動したようなとても神秘的な空間で大好きな音楽を演奏できるなんて、心から感謝します。

The cool, mysterious air of the cafe covered in beautiful, life-like yet oddly fantasy-like scenes of the forest cover the entire perimeter of the cafe. To think that we have been given the chance to play music here is a great blessing.
