Hello! Sunny Smiles spent an afternoon at a local afterschool program to welcome the new first-graders into the program. As Japan starts its new school year in April, we were happy to see how excited and energetic the kids were as they got adjusted to their new worlds! The kids were LOUD and great! It’s a good thing we brought our amps with us!

こんにちは！

5月にサニースマイルズは地元の学童で新一年生の歓迎ミニコンサートをしに駆けつけました！ご存知の通り、日本の学年は4月にスタートするので、新しい世界で楽しんでいる様子が見れて嬉しかったです。スピーカーを持ってきて良かった！😅

I (Mitz) was practicing at a local park the other day and was delighted to be recognized by a second grader who participated in the May mini concert! It was a great conversation starter. We spent the next hour singing and talking at the park. She introduced me to her mother who was sitting nearby and happened to speak great English! I made new friends! That is always great!

ミッツ（帽子のおばちゃん）近くの公園んで練習していたら、なんと学童で参加していた子に声をかけられ、会話のきっかけになりました！😀一緒に歌って、お喋りして、楽しかったです。彼女は近くに座っていた👩お母さんにも紹介してくれて、（なんと！）そのお母さんはネイティブレベルの英語で喋り出して、びっくり！良い出会いがあって、何より嬉しいです！

Lily’s Garden Market @Chigasaki City Hall Square

Thank you everyone for joining us at Chigasaki City Hall Square for Lily’s Garden Market. Miho, Mitz, and the lovely ladies with Hau’oli Malie Hula (led by Hula instructor, Leco Yamaguchi) had a wonderful time singing and dancing hula in the warm Spring sun!

茅ヶ崎市役所前のリリーズ・ガーデン・マーケットで今年も楽しく参加できました。ハウオリ・マリエ・フラの皆様とリーダーの山口レコ先生でたくさんのハワイアン🌺を歌って、踊りました。

ハワイアンで SunnySmiles (‘Olu ‘Olu Mele　誕生！)

Here we are on the day 1 of our new “band” 　Cafe and Restaurant, &You in Kajigaya, Kawasaki city.
新しいハワイアンバンド”オルオル・メレ”のDay１の”演奏”です。遊びで弾いてます！

With hula dancer LECO Yamaguchi bringing us together, our new Hawaiian band ‘Olu ‘Olu Mele (music breeze) played (for fun) for the first time on this day. Mr. Miyazaki (Hoyochi), Mr. Shinozaki(Akki-) (in the “80’s” club!) , Miho and LECO and Mitz (in the “50’s” club!) make up this group.
フラ講師の山口レコ先生のおかげでフラに魅了されたSunny Smilesがホヨチ（宮崎さん）とアッキー（篠崎さん）とレコ先生と一緒にハワイアンをやってみよう！’Olu ‘Olu Mele （オルオル・メレー風でやってくる音楽）を作ってみました。

We strive for creating music that “soars gently through the air like a cool, refreshing breeze.”
名のとおり、気持ちよく風に乗ってやってくる音楽のサウンドを目指して、これからも頑張っていきたいです！

Since then, we have played together on stage twice!
’Olu ’Olu Mele の誕生より２回もステージに立ちました。

We are now getting ready for our third stage in our hometown of Chigasaki the newly renovated Aeon Style, Shonana Chigasaki (Soyora) on the 2nd floor (street level) Atrium at 13:00 and 14:00. Both Stages will feature hula dancers (Hau`oli Maile Hula) for songs like “In Your Hawaiian Way, Koali, Pua Carnation, Lei Ho’oheno, … twelve songs in total, divided into 2 programs (13:00 and 14:00) Come and join us for some beautiful hula and a terrific heartfelt performances of our new band, ‘Olu ‘Olu Mele!

ただいま３度目のステージの準備中です。地元茅ヶ崎のニューフェイスで新しくオープンしましたイオンスタイル湘南茅ヶ崎（そよら湘南茅ヶ崎）の２階アトリウムにて２ステージで演奏することになりました。イン・ヨーア・ハワイアン・ウェイ、コアリ、プア・カーネーション、レイ・ホーヘノ、などなど！をフラ(Hau’oli Maile Hulaの皆様）と’Olu ‘Olu Mele の生演奏で！全１２曲を２部 (１３：００と１４：００）にわたって美しいフラと新バンドで心を込めてお贈りしたいと思ってます。（無料）よろしくお願いします！

We were introduced to a new magical bookstore place that is FILLED with picture books for young and old! The host, Mori-chan’s (as her friends affectionately call her) dream was to provide a place for people to discover peace within themselves among the wisdom and beauty of people who have captured their perspectives on life via captivating illustrations and prose.

魔法がかかったような不思議な絵本専門の本屋さんを紹介してもらいました！０歳の子供から１００歳の子供までたくさんのハートを優しく包むお店いっぱいの絵本です。本当の自分を見つめる、安心できる場所作る夢を実現した森ちゃんの優しさをたくさん感じる。

SunnySmiles went there one day to partake the delicious and healthy lunch that is served up by VOLUNTEERS (!) for the nice price of 1000 yen. Comes with drink and the delicious dessert of the day! Yummy! We were given a chance to play one or two songs. A listener recorded and made a video of us! Wow! She said that she loved it so much that she went ahead and made a video, captions and TRANSlation to boot!

サニースマイルズは二人で美味しい、ヘルシーなランチを食べに行って、食後に２曲も弾くとになりました。聞いてたお一人のお客様はビデオで撮って、編集と英語の訳まで入れてくれました！なんてしあわせ!

Ritz, His 20th Year and SunnySmiles!

Thank you to our friends, Gallery Kinomi customers and beautiful artists who came to make our performance so enjoyable! Ritz Yamashina, for welcoming us and allowing us to share our music midst his incredible works of art; Shinobu Ohno for sharing her beautiful voice and romantic samba sounds, and LECO, our hula teacher who came to mesmerize us with her beautiful Hawaiian hula dancing.

素敵な友達、木の実のお客様、アーティストの皆様のおかげでとても楽しいライブイベントにすることができました。画家の山科律さん（RITZ)、素敵なリッツワールドに囲まれてSunnySmilesの演奏をさせていただきました。私たちのライブの合わせて「ステージ」のバックに美しい海岸の絵をわざわざ飾ってくださったり、感謝です！フラのパフォーマンスにピッタシな背景！

Our musician friend (and Sunnysmiles Miho’s music mentor) Shinobu Ohno came not onlu to support us and our music, but also belss us with her own romantic Sama/ Bossa Nova sounds. An experience performer, her commnad of the mic with her deep, beautiful voice was amaizing and blew everyone listening away!

友達のミュージシャンとSunnySmiles美穂の音楽の先輩、おおのしのぶさんが私たちのライブを応援に駆けつけて、ありがたいことになんと、演奏もしていただくと言うことになりました。パーフォーマンスにとても慣れていらっしゃるだけに、しのぶさんのステージで我々、一気に本格的なコンサートのように変身！ディープで実に美しい歌声でラテン系のサンバを歌い出して、心の底まで響く演奏でした！

Miho and I have been learning hula bit by bit at the park for about a year now. Called HulaReiki, it is a casually session that combines the power of energy and the beauty of dance to get in touch with our bodies under the blue skies. Leco’s bright, gentle presence through her beautiful dancing added a new dimension to our playing! It was quite magical for us, and i could sense the audience being so mesmerized by her dance!

美穂とミッツはこの一年、少しずつ公園の青空の下で「フラレイキ」と言うクラスに参加し始めて、その先生が今回のライブにわざわざ踊りに来てくれました。レコ先生の明るくて、優しい踊りで自然そのものを表して、私たちの曲のより深い演奏にしてくれて、魔法のような感じでした。（観客も彼女の踊りに見惚れているのも感じました！）

Hello there! Here I am showing off Artist Mikkiou’s world as we sing and dance together! This is basically the mood with which we welcomed our first musical collaboration together! A fun time with a lot of ooopsies, but enjoyable, nevertheless! It’s not too late to submerge yourself in to Mikkiou’s zany world!
